The top 3-point shooter in the..
.. CAA (Colonial Athletic Association), 1,93 cm (6’4) University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) shooting guard Daniel Fountain, who was among the top 3-point shooters in the NCAA (#31 in NCAA I at 42,4%) this season, has signed an exclusive representation agreement with Court Side. Fountain’s 92 made 3-point shots this past season was the third best season total ever in Wilmington school history. Only Brett Blizzard, who is currently starring in Italy, had better season totals (109 in 2002-03 and 94 in 1999-2000) in UNCW school history. Fountain made at least 3 treys in 20 different games this past season, despite suffering a broken nose and a severe ankle sprain during different parts of the campaign which did not keep off the court. Playing on a balanced scoring team (4 UNCW seniors were among the Top 20 in the CAA in scoring), Fountain had fives games this past campaign where he scored over 20 points, highlighted by a career high of 27 points to open the season against the College of Charleston. He made 6 of 9 3-point field goal attempts in that season opener. The 2nd leading scorer for the 20-13 Wilmington at 12,9 points per game, Fountain excels with his splendid outside shooting. He’s got excellent shot mechanics, a quick release, long-distance range and strong confidence in his shot. He’s near automatic if he’s open from behind the arc. Fountain, who has good mobility and a strong basketball IQ, also excels at knocking down his jumper coming off of picks. Fountain is solid from the charity stripe, making 77,8 percent of his free throws as a senior.
