.. to a contract with Finnish Team Namika Lahti. Mathis spent the last three years with Evreux in Pro-B, France, where he made a good name for himself averaging 13.4 points and 7.2 rebounds a game last season. Before heading to France Mathis spent his "rookie"-season in Europe with Upstairs Weert in Holland where he was among the leagues best players averaging 16.8 ppg and 11.0 rpg, after graduating from Niagara in 2006. Lahti's head coach Sami Toivainen knew of James from his 1st season out of college when he was playing in Holland. When the opportunity occured to sign the versatile power forward, Namika Lahti didn't waste any time to make an offer. Mathis is expected to arrive in Finland by tomorrow, Wednesday Sept. 15. A day later he will join his new team to leave for a preseason tournament in Luleå, Sweden, where they'll play LF Basket (Sweden), Sundsvall Dragons (Sweden) and Kataja (Finland).
