Rodrigue Mels
Mels moves to Reims

French guard Rodrigue Mels has agreed..

.. terms with Reims in Pro B. He is a former member of the French National U16 and U18 Teams and he did participate at the prestigious Reebok Eurocamp in Treviso in 2003. After leaving Nancy as a junior, Rodrigue Mels enjoyed a tremendous college career. The 6’3 & 95 kilo combo guard plays with a big heart and is extremely competative. He brings the kind of offensive versatility to the floor which makes him a valuable addition to any professional team. In the 4 collegiate seasons, 2 in junior college with Midland, Texas (where he averaged 14.8 ppg) and 2 with Cal State Northridge (Division 1 NCAA), the teams Rodrigue played for both finished first in their leagues. During that time, Mels was twice named MVP: In 2007 he was named the National Junior College Tourney’s Most Valuable player, and in 2009, Rodrigue was named Most Valuable player in the Big West conference Tournament. The 26 years old combo guard signed, after his college graduation at Cal. State Northridge, with AEK Athens (D1 Greece) for 2 consecutive seasons. He left there due to a lack of payments this past winter. Coming season, Rodrigue will be coached by Montenegrin coach Nikola Antic, who had 3 very successfull campaigns the last 3 years in France. The 186 cm Mels signed for the coming season and is expected to help Reims to achieve the top 4 in Pro B.
