| Burlacu, Avellino secure Euroleague spot.
Last night Catalin Burlacu and..
.. and his Air Avellino swepped Capo D'Orlando in the first round of the Italian SerieA Playoff series to both advance to the semi finals as well as securing a spot in next season's Euroleague field. Avellino had won the first two games of the series by 11 and 10 points and yesterday it was much of the same. Playing at home Avellino came out strong and wound up winning 89-79. Coach Matteo Boniciolli played Catalin Burlacu 30 minutes in which he made a huge contribution: 14 points (3/4 two's, 2/6 three's, 2/2 fts) and 8 rebounds. Catalin has become more and more a stable option for coach Boniciolli because of his versatility (playing 3, 4, and 5) as well as his contributions on the defensive end. Of course his importance for his team became apparent when Avellino won the Italian Cup just weeks ago and now they will have a chance to advance to the final of the Italian playoffs. Catalin and Avellino will meet either Rome or Cantu (series 2-1 in favor of Rome) in the next round.
