Yamene Coleman
Court Side dynamic duo leads the way for Ciuc Miercurea

It’s normally not..

.. .. big news when a team wins a game, but it is headline-worthy, when it’s the last week of February and the last win was in October. That’s the case with the recent win by Miercurea Ciuc in Romania, which relied on their dynamic duo from Court Side to get the long sought Win. Led by a game-high 28 points from their point guard Clevin Hannah (Wichita State, Class of 2010) and a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds from center Yamene Colemen (Troy University, Class of 2010), BC Perla Harghita Miercurea Ciuc won their first game since October, a 79-77 road win over 13th place Craiova on Thursday night. It’s been a tremendously tough campaign for the under-manned Miercurea Ciuc squad, which was tied for last place in Romania first division with Brasov (both clubs with only one win until Thursday). Recently, Coleman, the top big man incomer in the league (averaging 14.2 points and 9.3 rebounds) finished serving a 30-day suspension from FIBA (Coleman has been using a doctor prescribed blood pressure medication for years, since his days at the University of Alabama. Tested in Romania, this medication came up on the banned medication listing. A FIBA hearing this year, found that Coleman was not using the medication for performance enhancement, but he was still given the suspension). The addition of Hannah in January has truly improved the squad. A first-team All-Missouri Valley conference pick last season, Hannah is averaging 21.3 points and 6.4 assists in his seven contests. He’s the best mid-season pickup in the league. Hannah is shooting 51.6% from the 3-point arc (he’s made 16 of 31 treys) and 54% from 2-point range. Clevin, the native of Holy Springs, Mississippi, is shooting 88% from the free throw line. In this week’s win, Ciuc was trailing throughout and down 64-60 after 3 quarters before making their victory run. Hannah was 6 of 10 on 2-point shots and 3 of 6 from 3-pointland (while making all 7 of his free throws). Coleman was 7 of 13 from the field while making 8 free throws.
