Wood
Wood - going for another Player of the Year?

The Finnish League has kicked off..

..this past week, and just as it has been for two years straight, Jeremiah Wood seems to be the dominant factor in the league. After being named Center of the Year two years ago, and Player of the Year this past season (leading the league in both rebounds and assist per game!) - Wood seems to be determined to win it again this year. His, and John Allen's, Kauhajoki have started the season 2-1, with their two wins coming against the two finalists from last year, ToPo and Pyrintö (roadgame). Wood so far is scoring 18.0 points per game, grabbing 14.3 rebounds a game (1st in the league) along with 4.3 assists a game - needless to say he has already been named Player of the Week for the first week of play in Finland. His teammate John Allen had a huge role in Kahuahjokis start of the season as well, with his 16.7 point and 11.0 rebound averages, Kauhajoki definatley has two of the leagues absolute best americans on their roster. Other Court Side players in Finland have also started well, Jared Newson and Darren Fells who both play for Kataja can find their team at a 2-1 record as well, with Newson leading the team in scoring with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist a game, Fells is chipping in 15.0 points and a team high 8.7 rebounds in only 25 minutes per game. Last but not least, James Mathis and his Lahti can also be found at a 2-1 record, with Mathis adding 16.7 points and 8.3 rebounds a game - off to a strong start despite coming to Finland just a week before tipoff!
