| Newson Joins!
Today Jared Newson joined the Court Side family by choosing..
..Court Side to represent him in all basketball related matters. Jared currently plays for Bamberg in the German BBL and also played Eurocup this season. At 196 cms Jared is always in superb shape, extremely quick, highly explosive, and is a threat going to the rim, behind the three point arc, and has a mid-range game as well. Defensively Jared can guard both the oponent's small forwards as well as the shooting guards. All in all the Tennessee-Martin graduate (2006 - All OVC 1st team) has an allround game but is always ready and willing to improve any, or all facets of his game. Coming out of college people knew about his supreme athleticism (example 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cksg4ZYqck. Example 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXvZNU4tMr8) which was on prominent display during the 2006 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament as well as in the professional years after. During his first year as a pro Jared showed a complete set of skills in Leverkusen, Germany, and improved those skills the years after in Australia and again in Germany with Bamberg. Jared also had short stints with the Dallas Mavericks. He first went to their mini camp in order to play summer league. Afterwards he made the summer league team and just did everything Avery Johnson asked him to do and played great defense and took it personal when people scored on him. Because he played well and brought energy to the court the Mavs wanted him to come to veterans camp. In vet camp he played mostly in the fourth quarters but when on the court he did great, guarding players like Bruce Bowen, Chris Paul, and Steve Francis. His best game was against Houston where he had 11 points 5 rebounds.. In the end it came down to available roster spots and Jared was the last cut. The Mavs wanted him to play D-League to be able to call him up but Jared chose to play in Europe. Jared is a player eager to learn, ready to play any role in the team, and will be an asset to many possible teams for years to come. Welcome aboard!
