Big win dynamic duo
Court Side’s dynamic duo of point guard Clevin Hannah..
.. (game-high 29 points & 7 assists) and post player Yamene Colemen (double-double of 22 points, 14 rebounds) led Miercurea Ciuc, to a 85-84 win over 8th place Otopeni in the Romanian first division this past weekend. Though this home win was the third consecutive win for Ciuc, it also maked one of the biggest turnarounds in the Romania. Miercurea Ciuc has been an incredible 4-2 in it’s last six game afterstarting the season with one victory in their first 21 games. Much of their success is attributable to the arrival of Hannah, the 5’11 point guard from Wichita State, who joined them in January. Hannah brought them stability at the point guard spot; he’s a true point guard who was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection last season at Wichita State. He’s..improved the team’s ballhandling while giving them a threat with his perimeter shooting and he’s also got the ability to create for himself and his teammates with his drives to the basket. He joined an under-manned squad, which still had some good individua talent, led by the athletic Coleman, one of the best rebounders in the league. Hannah is averaging 20.2 points in his 13 games, while shooting the lights out (57.3% from 2, 46% from 3). He has shown his ability as a true point guard, distributing the ball and running the team with control. Clevin has made at least five 3-pointers in 8 of his 13 contests. Hannah, with his ballskills and quickness, has also shown the consistent ability to penetrate to the basket and find his fellow teammates. Quite a debut season for Hannah, who is also shooting 88% from the free throw line. Coleman, who has proven himself the best young postman in the league, is averaging a near-double-double, 14.6 points and 9.7 rebounds. Yamene Coleman, the rookie from Troy University, who spent the first three seasons of his NCAA career at the University of Alabama, has had double-digit rebounds in 13 of his 26 contests. He’s a very athletic big man, who really crashes the backboards and finishes strong around the basket. Hannah is currently the #4 scorer in the league (20.2), while Coleman is Romania’s #3 rebounder.
